Abstract

As cloud computing comes to security applications, many endpoint security providers are rolling out cloud-based versions of their endpoint security offerings. While a move to “the cloud” may have a state-of-the-art aura to it, an actual assessment of some current offerings show that much is lacking. In fact, some major providers of endpoint security solutions have significant gaps in the management functionality provided in their cloud-based versions.

AVG commissioned Tolly to evaluate the management capabilities of its AVG CloudCare service managing AV services for Windows endpoints and compare that functionality to that offered in current solutions from McAfee, Panda Security, Symantec and Trend Micro.

Tests showed a significant gap in management functionality available in cloud solutions.
