Publication date:   05 January 2015
Document number:    214140

Huawei NetEngine40E (NE40E) series universal service router is a high-end network product developed by Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. to be deployed at the edge or core of IP or MPLS networks.

Huawei commissioned Tolly to evaluate their NE40E series router’s performance, high availability, virtualization capability, table capacity, Carrier Grade NAT (CGN) support for IPv4 and IPv6 networks, Hierarchical QoS (HQoS), etc. Tolly engineers verified that the NE40E series router supported 12M IPv4 routing table entries, 10M IPv6 routing table entries, 4M FIBv4 and 2M FIBv6
routing table entries, virtualization capability to virtualize one device into
multiple as well as multiple into one. Tests related to high availability features included UCMP, BFD, FRR, hot-standby chassises for CGN, NSR, ISSU and hot- swappable MPU and SFU, multiple services including CGN, NG-MVPN and HQoS, performance evaluation technology including IP FPM and RFC2544, as well as Netstream network statistics monitoring feature. Engineers also verified that the 8*100GbE port line card and the 48*10GbE port line card on the NE40E series router provided 100% line-rate forwarding.
