Abstract

In recent years, the growth in both cloud and decentralized computing has translated to enormous flexibility for companies large and small. With that flexibility, however, has come a dramatic increase in complexity with respect to IP address management. Not only do traditional IPAM challenges remain but gathering information from disparate locations - and especially cloud services - can involve extensive and ongoing manual labor.

Infoblox IPAM and DHCP solves the traditional challenges of manual Windows-based and other freeware IPAM. Importantly, the solution has been updated and extended to provide IP address discovery for cloud-services and for distributed on-premises network sites.

Infoblox commissioned Tolly to evaluate the benefits of its cloud-based, automated IP address discovery and its on-prem network discovery. Cloud services included Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Additionally, Tolly revisited and reconfirmed the TCO benefits of Infoblox IPAM and DHCP automation compared to Microsoft’s manual network update processes.

The Infoblox solution demonstrated dramatic time and effort savings with respect to cloud-based IP address management, automated discovery of on-prem network devices and illustrated significant time and cost savings with respect to traditional, manual processes associated with Microsoft Windows Server 2019.
