Interoperability Evaluation

Abstract

3Com Corporation commissioned The Tolly Group to evaluate three of its enterprise-class LAN switches for interoperability with other brand switches.

The 3Com switches demonstrated interoperability with other switches when subjected to advanced LAN services tests, including support for autonegotiation, 802.1p/Q VLAN tag propagation, and Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (IEEE 802.1s), among others. Layer 3-capable models also demonstrated RIPv2 interoperability with two models, and OSPF and Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) interoperability with one model.

Tests were conducted in March-April 2007 at Terremark Worldwide Inc.’s world-class NAP of the Americas facility in Miami.
