Abstract
Tolly Group Report #202104 (February 2002) compares WRQ Reflection for the Web 4.5 and Reflection for IBM 9.0 with IBM Host On-Demand 6.0 and Personal Communications 5.5.
-
Thin-client first-connect: Over standard Ethernet Reflection for the Web reached the mainframe in 5.33 s versus 24.84 s for Host On-Demand (≈4.7× faster) and kept a similar lead on broadband and dial-up links.
-
File-transfer speed: Uploading a 1 MB IND$FILE over TN3270 with 16 K blocks took 34.83 s on Reflection versus 42.13 s on Personal Communications (21% faster); with 32 K blocks Reflection needed 33.64 s versus the same 42.13 s (25% faster). Downloads showed 29.72 s versus 32.5 s (9% faster) at 16 K and 25.21 s versus 32.5 s (22% faster) at 32 K.
-
HLLAPI automation: Reflection executed the scripted task in 0.26 s versus 0.32 s (22% faster).
-
Screen refresh: Twenty clear-and-fill cycles completed in 10.78 s on Reflection versus 15.22 s on Personal Communications (41% faster).
Summary: Across web-to-host downloads, file transfers, automation tasks and screen updates, WRQ Reflection products consistently outperform IBM’s offerings, delivering 4×–41% faster operations that translate into significant productivity gains for host-access users.
