Abstract

Today’s demanding enterprise environments require the exchange of massive amounts of information within a network on a daily basis. Whether it be the orchestration of applications, and virtual machines or aggregating wireless access points, streaming video and providing voice over IP services, the enterprise data center network is faced with increasing bandwidth demands. Even with these ever-increasing demands, it is required that a networks’ latency remains low.

Extreme Networks, Inc. commissioned Tolly to evaluate the performance, specifically the Layer 2 and Layer 3 throughput and latency of the stackable Summit X670-G2 Series enterprise data center switch. Testing was conducted using 48 10GbE ports and four 40GbE uplink ports.

The Summit X670-G2 handles a full mesh of L2 and L3 bidirectional throughput at various frame/packet sizes, at 100% theoretical line rate with zero packet loss while maintaining very low network latency.
