iReady i-1000 Internet Tuner® Interoperability and Functionality Evaluation

Abstract

iReady Corporation commissioned The Tolly Group to evaluate the compatibility and functionality of the i-1000 Internet Tuner, a hardware-based Internet solution that enables consumer electronics devices to be “Internet-ready.” The Internet Tuner protocol stack, licensed by iReady, contains an intellectual property core that supports PPP, TCP/IP, UDP, POP3, SMTP, HTTP and HTML 3.2. Tests verified the Internet Tuner’s compatibility with leading ISPs, E-mail servers and HTML data. 

The Internet Tuner demonstrated that it can establish PPP-authenticated dial-up connections to multiple ISPs — including industry heavyweights AT&T, NETCOM and UUNET — and support PPP server connections at dial-up speeds up to 56 Kbit/s. The Internet Tuner also successfully connected to four Web server platforms and demonstrated its capability to process HTML Web pages. The device established its competence in retrieving and sending E-mail messages that originated from leading E-mail clients and were relayed by various Internet mail servers.
