Abstract

Sitara Networks, Inc. commissioned The Tolly Group to benchmark QoSWorks 7000 traffic-shaping and QoS device for bandwidth control, aggregate network throughput during traffic management and fair distribution of bandwidth. Sitara instructed The Tolly Group to benchmark Packeteer, Inc.’s PacketShaper 2000 against its QoSWorks device for the bandwidth distribution fairness portion of testing. Finally, QoSWorks’ capability to cache frequently requested Web server data was tested. Tests demonstrate that QoSWorks was capable of applying QoS parameters to a 64 Kbit/s link accurately, without sacrificing throughput. Results also show that QoSWorks can distribute bandwidth evenly, more so than the PacketShaper 2000. QoSWorks also delivered the highest throughput and demonstrated its capability to cache.
