Abstract

NEC America, Inc. commissioned The Tolly Group to evaluate its BlueFire 700 Series Ethernet Switch, model 730, for Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet throughput, as well as to validate the device’s capability to allocate bandwidth to prioritized traffic in situations where ports experience severe congestion. The switch delivered line rate throughput in a full mesh of 16 ports at layer 2 and layer 3 at 64, 512, and 1518 byte frames/packets. The switch also illustrated  traffic prioritization in two ports to one port oversubscription scenarios.
