Berk-Tek/Ortronics Alliance NetClear(GT3) Cat 6 Cabling System Active & Passive Structured Cabling

Abstract

Tolly Group Report #202100 (January 2002) validates the Berk-Tek/Ortronics NetClearGT3 Category 6 cabling system—Berk-Tek LANmark-2000 cable plus Ortronics Clarity6 connectivity—for reliable 1000Base-T transport.

Active Gigabit Ethernet tests. In 100 m four-connector and 7 m two-connector channels carrying 64-byte 1000Base-T traffic, every sample held a bit-error rate better than 1×10⁻¹¹, surpassing the IEEE 802.3ab 10⁻¹⁰ limit by an order of magnitude with zero errored frames .

Static performance headroom. Passive measurements exceeded proposed TIA/EIA Category 6 limits by 3 dB (except insertion loss) across all frequencies to 250 MHz, ensuring ample margin for future bandwidth needs .

Investment protection. Because NetClearGT3 meets Category 6 and far exceeds Gigabit Ethernet BER requirements, enterprises can deploy it once and later migrate from Fast Ethernet to full-rate 1000Base-T without recabling, gaining higher reliability and longer service life.

Conclusion: NetClearGT3 delivers error-free Gigabit performance and Category 6 electrical headroom, making it a solid structured-cabling choice for networks that demand proven support for current and future high-speed copper Ethernet links.
