Abstract

Hughes Network Systems commissioned The Tolly Group to test several features of the CX5000 Multi-Protocol Multi-Service Edge Switch version 3.0.1. The CX5000 is a modular, multi-chassis switching platform that combines Frame Relay switching, ATM switching, and LAN/WAN access. 

The Tolly Group built a multi-LAN/WAN test bed to exercise key components of the CX5000. The tests demonstrate that the CX5000 provides key functionality in three important areas: Integration of WAN switching and LAN/WAN access, support for Frame Relay Switched Virtual Circuits (SVCs), and multiple levels of fault-tolerance. Testing was performed in August of 1997.
