Abstract
VMware virtualization is at the core of countless datacenters globally. VMware vCenter provides the unified management environment for hyper converged infrastructure (HCI) and related systems. Until now, however, initial installation of VMware ESXi hosts on server hardware would need to be performed separately, outside of VMware vCenter. Dell OMIVV fills that gap by bringing Dell EMC server OS installation and firmware upgrades into the VMware vCenter environment.
Dell Technologies commissioned Tolly to compare workflow and processes for deploying ESXi hosts and upgrading firmware using the traditional console approach and Dell OMIVV.
Tolly found that OMIVV provided an intuitive GUI featuring a deployment wizard that automates and streamlines host ESXi deployment providing scheduled deployment with no human intervention required. OMIVV integration into vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM) simplifies and automates server firmware maintenance.
